Syksy tuli Etelään

Hei

Olenkohan jo maininnut että täällä meillä päin on aika vähän luontoa 

tai ylipäätään puistoja tai muutakaan vihreää. Pugliasta ja Barista löytyy toki 

paljonkin luontoa, mutta ei useimmiten asutusten lähettyviltä. 

Ollaan asuttu nyt reilu vuosi Bari Palesessa joka sijaitsee lähellä lentokenttää, 

tälläinen pieni kylänen vaan. Ajoittain kärsin luontokuumeesta ja sen seurauksena 

koti-ikävästä ja ilahduin suuresti kun tässä eräänä laiskana iltapäivänä ymmärsin 

käydä pesueeni kanssa nuuskimassa niin kutsuttua joutomaata, joka sijaitsee ihan 

kodin vieressä.  "Täällä on ihanaa", sanoi tyttöni ihastuneena. 

Löydettiin mantelipuita ja rukolaa joka päätyi oitis salaattipöytään. 

Manteleista päätellen voisi sanoa että syksyhän se tekee tännekin tuloaan vaikka lämpötila 

on lähes päivittäin vielä yli 20 asteen. Mantelit on  yleensä kypsiä elo syyskuun 

vaihteessa ja nämä kuvassa näkyvät ovat jo ylikypsiä ja syömäkelvottomia. 

Ensi vuonna pitää muistaa käydä ajoissa sadonkorjuussa. 

Että sellaista tällä kertaa, mukavaa alkavaa viikonloppua !

nature in Puglia, but usually not close to where people live. That's  why every now and 

then I get really home sick thinking about the Finnish fields and forests...This week I got 

a crazy idea of checking out the wasteland close to our home and it was worth it.  

We found fresh rucola and almonds ( that should have been collected in the August or 

September ). Anyway the point is that I was so happy to find some green space 

close to our home. I'm definitely going to have a walk there again and see 

what else we can find there.

Festival dell Oriente

     

Tervehdys vaan kaikille pitkästä aikaa !

 Nyt kun olen palannut niin sanotulta hermo ja lastenhoitolomalta, niin päätin sitten 

samalla rytinällä laittaa blogikirjoitukset Suomeksi. Jotenkin se nyt vaan tuntuu 

luonnollisemmalta kun Lontoovuosistakin alkaa olla aikaa reilut kuusi vuotta.

Eilen vieteteltiin rauhallisissa merkeissä 36 v. (kääk) synttäreitäni ja vaikka en ole koskaan 

ollut mikään kakun tekijä niin hykertelen vieläkin tyytyväisenä nimittäin hyvääpä oli ja taidan 

tehdä toistekin. Eilinen meni siis perheen parissa ja erinomaista kotitekoista ruokaa syöden. 

Maistoin ensimmäistä kertaa elämässäni rukolasta ja saksan 

pähkinöistä tehtyä pestoa ja taidanpa kokeilla myös omassa keittiössäni. 

Laitan sitten reseptiä myöhemmin.

Täällä Barissa syys- ja lokakuussa järjestetään perinteisesti erilaisia messuja ja tänä vuonna 

mentiin Itämaisille messuille. Hintaluokka oli ehkä turhan korkea, 

mutta muuten tapahtuma oli tosi kaunis ja nähtävää olis ollut vaikka useammalle päivälle. 

Meillä oli tietenkin matkassa myös riiviöt, jotka ensimmäiset kaksi tuntia tunkivat kokoajan 

syliin ja kiskoivat itkukurkussa hihasta ja lahkeista ja vaativat päästä puistoon leikkimään. 

Sitten kun oli pienet vatsat täytetty ja jälkkäritkin syoty niin 

johan alkoi vauhti ja meininki ja ennen kaikkea minulle rauha hypistellä ja ihastella 

upeita käsitöitä ja vaatteita, katsella tanssiesityksiä ja maistella eksoottisia makuja.

 

Mukana olivat myös mieheni ihanat veljen pojat 

Parasta juhlissa oli kauniit värit ja lupa sotkea.

Mukaan tarttui muutama synttärilahja eli ruskea mieheni valitsema marokkolainen
laukku ja appiukon bongaama ihastuttava intialainen pikkutakki. Jos tähän väliin saa
vähän kehua niin voisin ylistää italialaismiestäni ja hänen isäänsä sillä
molemmilla on erinomainen maku naisten vaatteiden suhteen ja
vieläpä halu olla mukana ostoksilla.
Harvinaista herkkua sanoisin.

      Pakistanilaiset sandaalit ensikesäksi.

Yesterday I turned 36 years and I made my self a fabulous chocolate cake. 

We celebrated together with my family eating delicious food 

and enjoying good company.

Last week we went to The Eastern Festival which was organiced here in Bari on the coast 

not far from the city centre. We spent a wonderful, colorful day eating delicious spicy food, 

listening music and shopping. 

I wish a peacful Sunday for everyone and I  hope to here from you soon..."

The New Studio Table

Yes, I'm back and slowly feeling the energy coming back to me. 

Moving to Bari Palese two months a go turned out to be a very tiering process with the kids. However we're feeling really satisfied and peacful about the the new neighbourhood. We've slowly started to

decorate the new three bedroom flat and the latest and so far dearest purchase is an old dusty table.

Not long a go I spotted this old beauty on subito.it and we quickly scheduled an appointment to see the table. Not long after we packed the kids in the car and off we went to Trani.

We spent a lovely day out enjoying "aperativo", lunch and ice creams.

 

The table was beautiful so we HAD TO have it. 

 

The owner of the table also gave us an old vase that was once used to keep the houses warm.

(If I understood well the carbon used to be heated n this vase.)

One week after our trip the table arrived at his new home and took his place in the studio. 

And here's Trani. You should definitely see Trani.

Next week we might go for a holiday by the coast, so some family time ahead.

Man With a Big Heart

 

Have I already mentioned that one of my daughter's favorite things to do is visiting "Tonino",
the owner of the antique store down at our road.
He's one of the most friendly man I've ever met in my life. We often pop in to his magical studio, where he works with wood and takes care of birds.

When he meets my daughter, he sings, makes jokes and laughs.

He makes her presents with old toys and treats her with sweets...

he's simply wonderful. A man with a BIG heart.

I will surely miss him once we've moved out from the city centre.

What comes to our moving schedule, it looks like we'll be finally moving out in April.
Then some more exciting news...
Next week one of my best friends is getting married in Portugal, and we'll be staying
three nights in Lisbon. Needless to say, I'm very excited about this.
Firstly because I'm SO happy for my friend to have finally found a great man in her life and
secondly because I love Portugal and Lisbon. My family used to spend holidays at the sunny coast of South Portugal and I visited it alone (or with my x boy friend, that buster ) around 13 years a go.
I remember thinking back then :
"I'll come back here, one day I'll be back in Lisbon"
And here we go !!!
Life never fails to surprise me.

Delicious Oats and Banana Cookies

 This is what I've been up to this week. Trying out a receipe of simple two ingredient cookies I've found online. When I first saw this receipe of just oats and banana I thought, yeah right, can't be good as there's no added sugar nor butter or fluor. It turned out they're even better. 

These cookies make also a perfect breakfast for my three years old daughter and she too 

loves them a lot. I've been making various versions with some added smashed pear or apple, raisins, coconut flakes and chocolate chips. I'm thinking of trying out with some pieces of almonds and nuts and some seeds and honey. The options are endless really and the result is DELICIOUS and healthy.

Just mix and match, just the way you like it.

Preparing time is quick, just about 5 mins. Cooking time about 10 mins. 

I must have a bite now.

Today I made these cookies with smashed banana and apple, coconut flakes,
oats and some milk chocolate chips. Try it with a cup of coffee or tea, yum yum !!

Goalkeeper's Daughter

Today was a lovely sunny Sunday in Bari so we decided to took our kids to play some football. 

My partner M plays every now and then with his friends and when he does he's a great goalkeeper.

I watched my daughter running hard after him, just like a shadow. She is clearly SO in love. So proud of his dad. What a pretty thing. I wonder if she'll ask to play more when she grows up. I wouldn't mind, any kind of sport is important. And after all I played football at the age of around 10-16 years and I've got so many good memories of those times.

...Well, maybe she'll need just a little more practise.

It was a lovely sunny day.

Home Sweet Home

I've taken a looong brake from writing a blog. My family is in a middle of a moving process. We currently live in the centre of Bari in a one bedroom flat. Needless to say, I simply can't wait to have more space for all of us. The new apartment is about 15 km North from Bari, close to the airport and in a short distance (1 km) of Adriatic sea. My daughter has already started the new kinder garten just 100 m away from our new apartment and the neighbourhood seems very friendly and lovely. Lots of kids, more space, no traffic and hassle, ...ahhh welcome the hassle free new life.

I think we'll be moving in a couple of months time, fingers crossed !

We ordered the furniture for our bedroom from Maison Du Monde, the French furniture store that 

opened their first shop in Bari last year. The furniture are on their way and should arrive in a couple of weeks time.
